RHEUMABUDDY TRACKING

European market leading empowerment solution for people with rheumatoid arthritis

An award-winning solution that helps RA patients understand and manage their condition

The challenge

Understanding how the disease affects your life, and how your lifestyle impacts the disease, can be very complex – and then communicating this to your doctor can be challenging. The psychological impact of rheumatoid arthritis can be substantial, and patients often face limited support while struggling to manage symptoms. With a complex condition and a lot to discuss, patients and healthcare providers struggle to fit everything into short appointment times.

The innovation

This digital health tool helps people with RA track and understand their symptoms, receive personalized recommendations, join a patient community, prepare for consultations, and get support for how to collaborate with their rheumatologists. Behind the scenes, we employ an advanced data-driven recommendation engine that provides patients with valuable insights.

RheumaBuddy Tracking – Connecting with the RA community and sharing data with the rheumatologist.

The outcome

The tool has received an international adoption award and recognition from EULAR for being the best patient-centric initiative, empowering more than 27,000 patients to better understand and manage their condition. Patient and healthcare providers have expressed that they can engage in more informed discussions having access to detailed records of symptoms and personal notes via the app.

The MyTreatment module in RheumaBuddy supports RA patients with education, medication management, and tailored reminders, improving literacy and treatment adherence.

RheumaBuddy received multiple EU grants to evolve into a next-gen precision-medicine platform, collaborating with top research institutes and data science partners in Rheumatology across Europe. Read more here.

Experiences

“FINALLY!!! I am so happy about the fantastic app.

It keeps track on everything in a simple and easy manner. Pain/mood/stiffness. I don’t know how many times I’ve wished for this app and have been searching in the app store.

Just want to say thanks a lot! “

— FEMALE PATIENT WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

"Evidence shows that empowering patients, increasing health literacy, and increasing confidence of patients, actually will improve the consultations process dramatically. Using the Rheumabuddy app, patients can track symptoms during the lengthy period between visits at the hospitals. It’s not only for the patient but also for the doctors important to know how the patient is really doing, so they can receive a better care.”

— DR. LARS ERIK KRISTENSEN, MD, PHD, RHEUMATOLOGY CSO, PARKER INSTITUTE COPENHAGEN UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

“All people with rheumatoid arthritis are now getting the tool we have longed for – a digital tool that can register the variations in the RA between visits at the rheumatologist.”

— JAMES RICKMANN, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, THE DANISH ASSOCIATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
